          How do I obtain a certified Birth/Death/Marriage record?

Certified vital records may be obtained in person, or by mail.  Please contact the City Clerk's Office at 518-233-2140 for information.



          How do I obtain a new dog license or renew an existing license?

1. New License:

  • Supply proof of rabies vaccination.
  • Supply proof of spay/neutering(if applicable).
  • Licenses must be renewed yearly.
  • Fees are:

Dog Status Yearly Rate
Neutered/Spayed dog $12.50
Unneutered/unspayed dog $20.50

Yearly Rate for Senior Citizens 65 years and older
Neutered/Spayed dog $1.00
Unneutered/unspayed dog $3.00


2. Renewal:

  • Renewal forms are sent to owners directly from the City Clerk's office. 
  • If rabies vaccination has expired, new proof must be submitted.
  • Licenses need to be renewed every year.
  • Licenses may be renewed by mail, in person, or on-line.


          What is the procedure for obtaining a marriage license?
  • A couple who plans on marrying in New York State may obtain their marriage license from any Town or City Clerk within the State.
  • The prospective couple must be at least 18 years of age. (Under 18 years of age, parental consent is required).
  • The marriage license must be obtained at least 24 hours before the marriage and it is valid for 60 days after issued.  The fee for a marriage license is $40.00.
  • Proof of age and identity with any of the following:
    1. Certified Birth Record
    2. Batismal Record
    3. Naturalization Record
  • And one of the following:
  1. Driver License
  2. Passport
  3. Employment Photo ID
  • If either party was previously married, certified divorce papers for every marriage must be presented.  If a death occured, a certified death certificate is required.
