Welcome to Cohoes…A Community That Cares
As Mayor of the City of Cohoes, I invite you to visit the City of Cohoes and the history that lies within its borders. Whether you attend an off-Broadway play at the Cohoes Music Hall, stop at Overlook Park to see the Cohoes Falls or shop at the Cohoes Farmers’ Market, we encourage you to come see what Cohoes has to offer.
Located just a few miles north of the Capital City of Albany, we are at the junction point of the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers and are centrally located with just a short commute to Saratoga, Albany and Troy. We have become a thriving bedroom community, fostering a common goal with our residents of enhancing the community and focusing on a high standard of living.
With major arterials as borders, it is evident that Cohoes is one of the most accessible communities in the Capital Region and is well positioned to capture the opportunities that abound due to our region also known as Tech Valley.
The City of Cohoes has experienced great growth and success over the years. One particular platform that the City has focused on over the past few years has been Expanding Economic Opportunity. Currently the City has over 22 grants in process totaling more than $13 million dollars.
These grants will help fund projects including the Bridge Avenue Bridge, Van Schaick Island Land Use and Transportation Study, Main Street Funding to help revitalization of our downtown business district with a focus on restoring workforce housing, and Delaware Avenue and Harmony Mills/Erie Canal Area Trail.
Cohoes is a community that offers a full venue of services, a great education system, safe neighborhoods, and a high quality of life. Cohoes is changing for the better, one day at a time and I believe that patience and persistence is leading to our prosperity.
Come join us as we continue working to improve our image in the Capital District and provide a vibrant community for residents, business owners and visitors. As you can see, Cohoes truly is…A Community That Cares!
