CONSIDERATION OF FEBRUARY 19th, 2008 MEETING MINUTES
Barbara questioned the tabled item at 237 Remsen Street – would the board receive an updated request?Melissa Ashline-Heil advised that no further information came in from the applicant who does not own the property, but is a prospective buyer.Herb moved to approve the minutes.Tor seconded the motion, and the Board approved the request unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF AN APPLICATION FOR A SIGN AT 122 REMSEN ST
The applicant, Mac Source, is a telephone systems business that rents the property.The business agent, Gary Lynch, requested placing an existing 8’wide X 16” high wall sign on the face of the building constructed of wood laminate.Mr. Lynch added that it is 3/4” thick and that Mac Source will fasten the sign to the façade with tapcon concrete screws.
Tor moved to approve the sign, conditioned on the aforementioned. Daniele seconded the motion, and the Board approved the request unanimously.
Discussion of satellite dishes in Historic District
We held a post-meeting constructive discussion regarding the proliferation of satellite dishes. We all agreed that it would be beneficial to determine locations within the various historic districts where satellite dishes had been placed. We would then present the property owners with a COA Application packet and a request to submit it for review. Also we would encourage placement of dishes in less conspicuous locations on properties within historic districts when possible. We agreed that the next water bill should contain information in the Newsletter about the need to submit COA Applications as it would reach a broader audience of residents, not just property owners.
We further agreed to develop some guidelines for the Code Enforcement department to enable them to follow up with the property owners who might take no action on submitting a COA Application for a satellite dish.
