At 7:00 PM, a Public Hearing was conducted regarding the 2011 Budget.
Mayor McDonald, “There have been several meetings this year for the budget. About a month ago, the City Comptroller and I presented the budget to the Common Council, since that time the Council has had one meeting amongst themselves to discuss the budget. There also was another public presentation without any comment at the Van Schaick Neighborhood Watch. Tonight is the opportunity for the public to comment on the budget.
At 7:02 PM, with no public comment being made, Council Member Signoracci made a MOTION to close the Public Hearing, Council Member Kennedy seconded the motion, all members voted “AYE”. The motion passed.
Council President Primeau, and Council Members Kennedy, Turcotte, Nolin, Ceccucci, and Signoracci introduced Resolution 45 for the year 2010
A RESOLUTION APPROVING COMPROMISE AND SETTLEMENT OF PENDING LITIGATION BY THE CORPORATION COUNSEL
Mayor McDonald, “The City has been engaged in litigation with Verizon in regards to a Tax Certiorari case regarding their assessment. After review with Counsel and the cost in defending this case, we have reached a compromise for 2011 and 2012”.
A roll call vote was taken, Council President Primeau, and Council Members Kennedy, Turcotte, Nolin, Ceccucci, and Signoracci voted “AYE”. Resolution No. 45 for 2010 passed.
Bill Smith, Jay St., “I would like to know when Vliet Street is going to be finished”.
Mayor McDonald, “There has been a snag with this project; I have updated April, about 2-3 weeks ago. There is an old stormsewer, not related to the waterline project, which the cavern has been damaged. It is in the City’s best interest to repair it now. We have been negotiating with the contractor on sight for the amount of a change order; their request was unacceptable to the city. We hope to have it fixed very soon”.
At 7:25 PM, with no further business to come before the Council, the Common Council meeting was adjourned.
