Mayor George E. Primeau Sr.   George Primeau is a lifelong resident of Cohoes growing up in the historical downtown area and has been a Cohoes business owner for 28 years. George has worked closely with the City of Cohoes as the third ward Common Council member since 2000 and has been president of the council for the last five years.   George was sworn in as Cohoes’ 37th Mayor on December 31, 2012 after Mayor John T. McDonald III’s election to The New York State Assembly.   George is married to the former Sheila Oliver of Cohoes.  They have three sons- Dwayne, George Jr. and Joseph. They have been blessed with 5 grandsons who all reside in Cohoes.
