Volunteers needed for the following:
Friendly visits with the residents, Run the Gift Shop, Assisting therapy department with the transportation of residents through the building, helping to run activities such as Bingo, Crafts, Music, etc., Helping in the Beauty Parlor.

Flexible hours are available. Volunteers must be 14+

Shelving books, shelf reading, writing a newsletter, making flyers and signs, planning lectures and booking speakers, running a book discussion group, and helping people on the computer.

Providing child care for children ages 2-6 for 2 hours on Sunday mornings, and outside lawn work.  Other opportunities may also be available.

Cleaning the park, Planting flowers in the park, Craft Fair, National Night Out, Haunted Hay Ride and distributing fliers for meetings.

Calvary Grace Church

The Cohoes Kiwanis focus on youth oriented events.  We sponsor the Annual Halloween Parade and Party at the Cohoes Community Center.  We also sponsor a Christmas Party for needy children in conjunction with the annual tree lighting.  Children have an opportunity to meet Santa and get their picture taken.  We co-sponsor the Family Festival at Van Schaick Island with the neighborhood watch and participate in the city wide clean up.  Volunteers are always needed for all of the above events.

Teenagers in 6th grade and up are welcome to volunteer.

Holiday Tree Lighting-Assisting with decorating Canal Square and helping out the day of the event.
Concerts in Canal Square-Distributing schedules to the audience.
Beautification Day-Helping to clean up specified areas in the city.
Van Schaick Island Fall Festival-Manning the Caretaker information booth and assisting with clean up throughout the day.
Canal Square-Assisting with ongoing clean up in Canal Square.

Youth ages 10 and up are also welcome to volunteer with the Cohoes Caretakers.

City of Cohoes Youth Bureau/ Youth Advisory Board

The Youth Bureau assists at several events including the Turkey Trot, Halloween Parade, Winter Carnival and Easter Egg Hunt.  Volunteers are always needed at these events and youth ages 13 and up are welcome to volunteer with us.

Volunteers needed for the following:
Helping in the kitchen, washing dishes, helping to put together the meals on wheels, cleaning tables in the dining room. Help is also needed to serve the disabled at evening meals, working the jewelry counter on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, working in the Adult Day Care with clients helping them to do arts and crafts, play games, exercises, etc. Help is also needed at the front desk answering phones and helping with paper work.
