American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

***PARKING RESTRICTION NOTICE***

As part of the Bridge Avenue Bridge Reconstruction Project, the City of Cohoes will be restricting parking along sections of Ontario Street, Park Avenue and all of Bridge Avenue on Tuesday, May 4 and Wednesday, May 5 during the hours of 7AM – 3:30PM.

There will be NO PARKING on BOTH SIDES of the streets indicated below. Any vehicle that is in violation of the parking restrictions will be towed at the owner’s expense.

  • Ontario Street from I-787 to the Golden Krust Bridge
  • Ontario Street from River Street to Continental Avenue
  • Park Avenue from Ontario Street to Jackson Avenue
  • Park Avenue from Myrtle Avenue to Hudson Avenue
  • ALL of Bridge Avenue
The parking restrictions are due to the delivery of the steel girders that will be up to 145 feet in length for Bridge Avenue Bridge. All tractor trailers carrying girders will be traveling with two escorts as well as assistance from the Cohoes Police Department. Motorists and residents should be aware that traffic in these areas, especially at the intersections of I-787 and Ontario Street and Ontario Street and Park Avenue, will be delayed for several minute intervals up to five times both Tuesday and Wednesday. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes if possible to avoid potential delays.

***BRIDGE AVENUE BRIDGE CLOSED***

The Bridge Avenue Bridge is slated to be closed on Friday, August 14 in the City of Cohoes as the Bridge Reconstruction Project continues. The bridge will remain closed for the duration of the reconstruction project which is expected to extend into the Fall of 2010.  A third traffic lane has been added on Ontario Street to help improve traffic flow while the bridge is closed to motorists and pedestrians. In addition, Ontario Street will no longer be closed on Thursday, August 13 as originally scheduled.

The shuttle will begin on Monday, August 17 and will run Monday thru Friday starting at 7:10 a.m. until 9:02 a.m. and then picking back up again at 3:25 p.m. until 6:07 p.m. A more detailed description of this route and schedule can be found below.
